Safaris into the jungle are conducted by professional wildlife guides in open jeeps to Bijrani range forest, Jhirna, Lohachaur. The duration of safari is about three to four hours and is conducted early morning or in the afternoon till sunset. The standard procedure of viewing wildlife or tiger tracking is in open jeeps. The best time for tiger tracking and birding is either early morning or late evening. One can book jeep safaris in advance while booking the accommodation.

Tiger Camp also provides night stays in the rest houses located in deep forests. This option is listed in the end.

A week-long jeep safari can also be arranged that would encompass a substantial area of the park including parts of Sonanadi Sanctuary.

Elephant ride

Riding the elephant is the best mode of moving through the dense forest and rugged terrain of Corbett National Park. The ride can be very rewarding for wildlife enthusiasts and birders.

If one opts for an overnight stay at the forest rest house, the elephant ride is provided within the package. The elephant ride is sometimes rewarding when used for tiger tracking in the grasslands.

One can avail an elephant ride by reaching the elephant station early as prior bookings are not entertained. To get to an elephant station, one has to take a jeep into the jungle which is the same as the jeep safari given above. One can take a morning and / or an afternoon safari. Each ride will last about two hours and the elephant is guided by a mahout who is fully knowledgeable about the park.

Nature walks

Nature walks and short treks along the river Kosi or Ramganga. If you are staying at Tiger Camp, there is no charge for guide services for a short nature walk.

Angling

We exercise the "catch and release system". Though boasting an abundance of fish species, it is for the mighty "Mahseer", a large fighting fish that India is best known for, in the fishing world.

Though anglers consider the Golden or Himalayan Mahseer (Tor putitora) as the main species available on the Ramganga, Saryu & Mahakali rivers, Goonch (Bagarus bagarius), a fresh water scavenger is also another species that thrives in these rivers.

Mahseer fishing tours are conducted on the Ramganga river in the periphery of Corbett National Park and higher reaches of the river.
Fly-fishing and spinning the rivers offers great pleasure to the sportsman, who is called upon to pit his skill to outwit the mighty
Mahseer.

Angling here is subject to permissions available from the forest department on advance notice.

Anglers will have to bring their own equipment. Local fishing guides, who are highly experienced are deputed with anglers. We provide
transportation, camp equipment, packed or fresh meals and fishing gillees. One can use a few good pools in river Ramganga for Mahseer fishing. One can take morning and afternoon walks by the river for angling. The anglers are required to carry their own fishing gear.

More fishing options are available at www.abbottmountcottage.com
